What is Marasby?
Marasby Market is a specialist, curated marketplace for UK produce, starting with English & Welsh Wine.
As such, Marasby does not hold any stock, and all orders are delivered direct from the producer, cutting out the multiple layers of middlemen, wasted packaging and delivery miles of traditional retail.
Delivery Charges
All delivery charges are set by the producers listing on the Marasby platform, and are clearly displayed on individual product pages.
Most producers offer free delivery on purchases of a minimum value.
UK Mainland Delivery
The standard Marasby Market service is currently available only to customers on the UK mainland.
Outside UK Mainland
Deliveries to Highlands, Islands of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Isle of man, Isles of Scilly, Channel Islands, may be possible depending on individual producers, but will typically incur additional delivery charges.
Please email hello@marasby.com for further information.
Placing an Order from Multiple Producers
One of the great things about ordering on Marasby Market is that you can choose from multiple producers with one account and one checkout just like a traditional retail site, yet unlike traditional ecommerce sites, on Marasby you pay vineyard gate prices without a retailer mark-up.
If you put together a selection from two or more producers, you may be liable to pay delivery charges from each producer individually. To avoid this issue, make sure you order sufficient value or number of bottles from each producer to clear their threshold for free delivery. This minimum will be clearly stated on each product page, and will often be no more than two or three bottles.
Ordering
You must be of legal drinking age in your country of residence (18 in the UK) to order on this site.
When you place an order online you receive an email with the details. This acknowledges that your order has been received but not confirmed. Confirmation is subject to stock, payment, description and price verification and validation. Once this has been carried out, we send you a despatch confirmation email, and at that point your contract to purchase is complete. If there are any problems, we will contact you. We reserve the right to cancel any order at any time until the contract to purchase is complete.
We will cancel any order that fails our credit card fraud checks, or on the advice of our payment provider, the issuing bank or the cardholder. If an order is shown to be fraudulent, we will inform the police and cancel any further orders by the same customer.
We only accept orders for delivery to physical addresses. We do not accept orders for delivery to P.O. boxes.
Receipt of Delivery
All wine must be signed for on delivery by an adult aged 18 years or over. If the producer’s delivery agents are in any doubt about the age of the recipient on delivery, they will request some form of identification. If the person attempting to receive the goods is unable to produce appropriate identification, unfortunately our delivery agents will be unable to leave the goods. In these circumstances, the delivery agent will leave notification of attempted delivery for the customer to rearrange delivery at a more convenient time. A further delivery charge may become due and payable by the customer for the repeat delivery.
Returning an Order
In accordance with Distance Selling Regulations, customers may cancel orders up to 14 days after the order is delivered, and a receive a full refund, including for the original delivery charge.
To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision to cancel your contract by a clear statement, including details of your name, geographical address, details of the order you wish to cancel and, where available, your phone number and email address. We will then contact you to let you know the address where the goods will need to be returned – typically the producer’s warehouse. The goods will typically need to be returned in their original packaging, and at your cost.
You are required to take reasonable care of the goods while they are in your possession such that they are returned to the producer in a saleable condition. Your refund will be issued via your original payment method.
Faulty Wine
Occasionally wines (even English & Welsh wines) can be corked or otherwise faulty. If you suspect this is the case, please contact the producer of the wine direct, or contact us at hello@marasby.com and we will pass on your issue to the producer.
Most producers are proud of their wines and will be happy to issue a refund or replacement for a faulty bottle
We reserve the right to cancel the contract between us if:
- A producer has insufficient stock to deliver the goods you have ordered;
- The producer does not deliver to your area; or
- one or more of the goods you ordered was listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or an error in the pricing information received by us from our suppliers.
If we do cancel your contract we will notify you by e-mail and will credit to your account any sum deducted by us from your credit card as soon as possible but in any event within 30 days of your order. We will not be obliged to offer any additional compensation for the disappointment suffered.
Whilst we will try to ensure that our website is constantly kept up to date, there is a possibility of an item becoming unavailable before we are able to process your order. In such a case, we will suggest a substitute from the same producer of a similar value. If this is not acceptable, we will cancel your order and issue a refund.
